2009 Youth of the Year

Victoria Johnson
Age 16
Jack Minges Club

The 16-year-old from Greenville was a strong representative of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Pitt County. She embodies how the Club can put young people on the right path to success.  Johnson says she once struggled with behavior management and staying out of trouble, but the Club helped her deal with the issues she faced.  ”I couldn’t have asked for a better place to be my guide and lead me down the right path,” said Johnson.

Johnson is doing more than just being a good Club member.  She’s become a responsible global citizen.  Johnson came up with the idea to have a collection drive for the earthquake victims in Haiti and put this plan into action.  Helping people is a long-term goal of Victoria’s. She would like to select a major in the medical field at East Carolina University after graduating from South Central High School in 2011. Johnson studies hard to be on her school’s honor roll.
