Grady White Boats/ E.R.Lewis Family Unit MLK Day

On MLK day AmeriCorps-Project Heart along with staff worked together to commemorate MLK day.  Volunteers read stories about Dr. King’s life.  Children learned the importance of MLK day and in honor of him completed a community service project.  Members and staff decorated cards and painted stain glass decor for the children at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.  Mr. Darnell, the Teen Director, gave a seminar to all children at the Club about how far we have come because of Dr. King’s accomplishments and the need to continue to strive and make a difference in the community.  Following the seminar,  all members watched an entertaining and educational film about Dr. King’s life, Our Friend Martin.
