More than 15 students from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Pitt County’s Jarvis Club in downtown Greenville will participate in a two-part interactive art project with artist Kirkland Smith at City Art Gallery on Friday, Feb. 17 from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. and Friday, March 2 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Kirkland, whose work debuts at City Art Gallery on Feb. 17 in an exhibit called It’s a Material World, is an environmentally-conscious artist who creates assemblages using post-consumer waste.

On Friday, March 2nd the members will be creating their own works of art using consumer waste, just as Artist Kirkland Smith uses in her works of art. The members are collecting items now to use on their projects. If you are interested in donating consumer waste items for this cause, please contact Unit Director, Brittney Walters 252-752-3101 ext. 322
