Our History

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Pitt County began in 1969 as a Boys Club with a very modest operation at the Pitt County Fairgrounds. Since that time, the organization has experienced significant growth in membership, programs and facilities. In 1992 the new 40,000 square foot unit was dedicated on Fire Tower Road to accommodate the growing need for youth services and to include girls in the membership.

Additional units were established in Ayden in 1993, Farmville in 1995, and Jarvis in 2007. A 20,500 square foot club (Grady-White Boats/E.R. Lewis Family Unit)  opened  in 2007 and is located in northern Greenville on Belvoir highway. We also built a new facility (Dr. Ledyard E. Ross Unit) in Ayden on 2nd Street in April of 2010. This aggressive expansion program enables the Boys & Girls Clubs to serve more than 1,600 children in Pitt County. There are thousands more children that need to be served, so the Clubs’ leadership is dedicated to doing much more. (See “How You Can Help”)
